The ONS study ranked neighbourhoods in England based on how long it takes to access key services such as schools, GP surgeries and transport links.
And, based on the above, Steeple was identified as the most isolated village in Essex.
Steeple is located on the Dengie peninsula, east of Maylandsea and Mayland, near the River Blackwater estuary.
The two closest are Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea.
The village had a small population of about 490 people in 2011, with limited attractions, including a church, a pub called the Star Inn, and a bus stop.
But despite its location, Steeple is popular with those looking for peace and quiet. It is home to Steeple Bay, a holiday park offering views of the River Blackwater.
The village is also known for its gorgeous countryside walks with beautiful views and a chance to spot sailing boats along the river.
