Outlander fans 'driven crazy' by Claire and Jamie Fraser detail they've only just noticed

Outlander enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the release of the second part of season seven, revisiting their favourite episodes of the beloved historical fantasy drama.

The epic adventure is set to return on Starz in a fortnight, with Claire (played by Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) finally back in Scotland.

Their passionate love story has enthralled viewers over the years, despite its numerous trials and tribulations. However, even during their rare moments of tranquillity, a recurring detail seems to irk some fans.

One disgruntled viewer recently took to Reddit to express their annoyance at a particular display of affection.

"The dumbest thing is driving me crazy on the show," they began their post.

"Frequent repeat watchers might get ruined by this silly thing. The forehead touching!" They added: "They do it so much. I'm starting to notice the music repeats that are not quite so egregious, but they do love to forehead touch."

Despite their frustration, they admitted: "But my cat does it really well, so now I feel like I'm in on it."

This sparked a heated debate in the comments, with many disagreeing with the original poster. "I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the forehead touch!!" one fan responded.

"It is so loving and intimate without being sexual. (Not that I have a problem with them being sexual.)".

One fan gushed: "To me, it shows that they are entirely focused on and in touch with each other, regardless of what may be going on around them or in their lives."

Another fan jumped to their defence, saying: "That is their signature touch. As well as Claire stroking Jamie's cheek."

A third fan cooed: "Oh I LOVE the forehead touch! It's so sweet."

A fourth fan hit back at critics, saying: "So a long married couple needs to invent a new way to show intimacy every episode, so as not to ruin the show for you?"

The passionate reactions show that Claire and Jamie's story still has a strong hold on fans, who will likely become even more invested as the series continues through the winter months.

The next season is set to end with another dramatic finale, leading into the eighth and final season.

But the Outlander saga is far from over, as Starz is working on a prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which will explore the origins of Claire and Jamie's parents.

Outlander season seven part two premieres on Friday, November 22, on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
