Mark Giangreco has called for Terry Bradshaw to be "rescued" following his recent gaffes on Fox NFL Sunday.
Giangreco, 72, is currently a contributor to ESPN radio after stepping down from his long-standing role as an anchor on ABC7 in 2021. Despite being a huge admirer of Bradshaw, Giangreco recognises the noticeable decline in the 76-year-old and has urged Foxto step in.
"Terry Bradshaw stumbling thru the hilites was funny and folksy at first now it's really aggravating, uncomfortable and annoying, falling behind and mispronouncing until Curt Menefee has to take over and bail him out," Giangreco posted on X. "It's sad. I love the original TB. Save him from the embarrassment."
Retired sports anchor Dave Kerner commented: "This is when the execs have to step in."
Giangreco responded with a thumbs-up emoji. Bradshaw, an NFL legend who played 14 seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, joined Fox NFL Sunday in 1994.
The four-time Super Bowl champion is revered by all NFL fans, but this season he's . One viewer questioned on Sunday: "Is it just me or does it seem like Terry Bradshaw forgetting a lot of things he should know?"
"Terry Bradshaw is a legend, but it's over," one fan declared. Another chimed in with concern: "Terry Bradshaw was struggling to get through the first-half highlights. I hate to see that."
Patrons of the sport also took Bradshaw to task for erroneously naming New England Patriots' rookie quarterback Drake Maye as Derek Mayback. Additional criticism was levelled at him for referencing Cleveland Browns' Nick Chubb recovering from injury during coverage of the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans match, among a spate of recent on-air blunders.
Yet Bradshaw, who once jested that Fox should allow him to draw his last breath on live television, appears determined to prolong his broadcasting tenure indefinitely. On 'The Kelly Clarkson Show', he expressed his passion for the job saying: "So much fun, I'm one of those people that are lucky to go to work and can't wait to get there.
"It's so much fun to get up early as you do, we work all day, we're 12 hours in the studio working all the games throughout. The people here in New York may see us do one show but we do 12. You're hanging out with a bunch of jocks that you love like brothers and it is a hoot as you can well imagine. They're all good people."
