Thomas Tuchel is reportedly in advanced discussions about becoming the next England manager. The Football Association has approached Tuchel as part of their search for a successor and he is now considered the front-runner.

While no formal agreement has been reached, serious negotiations are anticipated.

The prospect of a German leading the English national team may raise some eyebrows, but Tuchel is a well-known and liked figure from his time at Chelsea. His impressive CV includes winning the Champions League and successfully navigating challenging times at Chelsea due to ownership issues.

Tuchel, who previously managed Borussia Dortmund, has been jobless since leaving Bayern Munich last summer. However, his reputation for working effectively with top players makes him an attractive candidate and England are stepping up their pursuit, reports .

Football Association executives have spoken to several potential candidates, including Manchester City's Pep Guardiola. However, it is believed that Guardiola, who was approached earlier this year, is likely to remain at the Etihad for another year when his contract ends this summer.

Tuchel has always been a top contender and has attracted significant interest from Manchester United.

However, it now appears that things are progressing rapidly between Tuchel and the FA. This wouldn't be the first time an overseas coach has taken charge, with Sven Goran Eriksson and Fabio Capello having previously held the reins.

Interim boss Lee Carsley has made it clear that the Football Association is on the hunt for a "world class manager" capable of clinching trophies, and Thomas Tuchel appears to be ticking all the boxes. While nothing is set in stone, there's an increasing sense that Tuchel might just be the FA's top pick.

Carsley was anticipated to remain at the helm for the upcoming Nations League matches next month. However, with the World Cup draw scheduled for December 13, expectations are that the new manager will step in for the qualifying rounds.

Tuchel, who has previously worked with England skipper Harry Kane during their time at Bayern, could be the one taking charge. Despite his departure from his role at the end of the season, Tuchel has continued to receive payment from Bayern, essentially placing him on 'gardening leave'.

The specifics of whether the FA or Tuchel would need to engage in negotiations with Bayern for his release remain uncertain.
