Tony Bellew admits he is 'petrified' at the prospect of fighting a 58-year-old this weekend. The former boxer insists the YouTuber-turned-boxer can do serious damage to Tyson due to his age.
Bellew was with an elderly man called Norman. The 41-year-old believes Norman should be Paul's next opponent, joking that the 27-year-old only fights "grandfathers".
But the Liverpool-born star had a serious point to make as he made his way out of the press conference, escorted by police.
Bellew told : "I'm absolutely petrified to be honest, I just hope he doesn't hurt Mike. Of course he could [hurt Tyson], he's half the age. He's a grandfather mate, he's a 58-year-old grandfather."
Asked what would happen if he stepped into the ring with Paul, Bellew was in no doubt that he would demolish the American. He quipped: "I'm 41, I play golf a couple of times a week and I've got a fat belly, and he wouldn't stand a single hope in hell against me.
"I wouldn't even need to train. I would just get in the ring and lamp him out pretty quickly. But it's not about me."
Bellew was conducting a satirised stunt for a betting company. He believes Paul will need a "comeback opponent" if he loses against Tyson, and believes Norman - who he joked is 107 - is the right man.
"I just need to let it be known that Jake Paul is fighting a grandfather. If he loses to a grandfather, he's going to need a comeback opponent. I've got Norman, Norman is a great grandfather, he's got two new hips," Bellew said.
"He's ready to rock and roll. He's the champion of the care home. Jake Paul's going down that path - why not fight someone like Norman? He's going to need an opponent to come back to. Norman's ready."
Norman added: "I could take him. He won't stand a chance."
Bellew continued: "He just can't go on a Thursday, he's got bingo on a Thursday. That's the only day he can't go. Six days of the week, he is good to go."
Fears have been raised over Iron Mike's return to the ring 19 years after his last professional bout. There is a 31-year age gap between the two men, with Paul in his athletic prime.
