Big Brother has been gripping viewers with its big characters and even bigger twists for years, and anticipation is mounting as a fresh batch of budding reality stars prepare to enter the famous house.

An all-new instalment of the reality show will return to ITV2 and ITVX this Sunday (October 6) at 9pm. TV favourites AJ Odudu and Will Best will grace the stage once again in their roles as hosts.

As excitement heats up for the forthcoming series, the pair reminisced over their highlights from the previous season with Will Best sharing the profoundly emotional moment from 2023 that sent him into "floods of tears".

At the time, the official Big Brother Twitter/X account called it "the most shocking eviction ever", with fans in agreement as they condemned it as both "brutal" and "vile".

The unforgettable segment from the 2023 season featured contestants eagerly anticipating heartfelt letters from home. Yinrun Huang, who ultimately placed fourth, was tasked with presenting fellow housemate Doctor Matty's letter.

Matty's expression shifted from joy to intense emotion as Yinrun read it out, but a harrowing plot twist lay in store. The letter, initially believed to be from a loved one, was actually penned by Big Brother and served as an unexpected eviction notice.

Matty was taken aback by the surprise twist, which led to his departure as the eleventh evictee, just missing out on the much-anticipated live final.

Host Will recounted the emotional eviction scene, revealing his own reaction: "Matty's eviction - I was in floods of tears," he admitted. "I thought they did that so well, the music, the way the letter was written. I absolutely loved it. I thought that was going to win us a BAFTA!".

The moment divided the show's viewers. One expressed strong disapproval, writing: "I really don't like Matty and never been a fan but that is the most vile thing I've ever seen on @bbuk. Horrible."

Others described the scene as "brutal", with a different tone coming from another fan: "Sorry that's horrible! I hope that you are ok! Nah, I don't like that at all."

Conversely, some fans enjoyed the tension-filled moment, with one complaining that it wasn't broadcast live. "Great way of doing the surprise," they enthused, "but it should have been live." Another commented: "Brutal! I'm obsessed."
