'We tried the best Champagne and sparkling wine with a £12 bottle near perfect'

is a time when shoppers like to splurge out and treat themselves to a bottle. Whether it is on Christmas or on New Year's Eve there is always a reason to celebrate.

While some people tend to go for the pricier option of , there are also some great choices when it comes to sparkling wine.

To put this to the test, we blind-tasted some champagne and sparkling wines from a range of brands. The bottles all ranged from £8.99 to £52 and are easily available to buy from or online.

We then ranked each item out of 10 to determine the winner. One item clearly stood out as the winner and costs just under £15. We drank responsiblity and taste tested the products over a few weeks for the article.

The delicious champagne has lively, fresh citrus notes with a crisp lemon aroma.

Domaine La Borderie Cuvee Val More 2015

Price:

Despite the colour, there's notes of blackcurrant and red currant with a hint of honey.

Overall score: 7/10

Lanson Le Black Creation Champagne

Price:

According to reviewers online it has a similar to Moet and we can see why with it sharp and delightful taste.

Overall score: 6/10

Pommery Brut Royal Champagne

Price:

This is produced the traditional Champagne method and is the most delightful out of all the ones we tried.

Price:

Aldi's own label has become a popular buy with shoppers and tastes just as great as those with a heftier price tag.

Remy Martin VSOP Cognac Fine Champagne

Price:

The Champagne has been described as "lovely" on Asda's website and upon review can see why thanks to its sweet vanilla and honey notes it is easy to drink.

Sparkling wine Louis Guntrum riesling brut 2018

Price:

There is citrus aromas and is a little more complex in terms of fruit flavours. Overall, it is a great drink.

Terra Organica Prosecco 75cl

Price:

The best prosecco that we got to try on the list. At only £12 per bottle it is rich and light with the right amount of crispness.

PS Pétillant Rosé NV

Price:

Another popular sparkling wine on the list thanks to having just the right amount of fizz and is gentle enough on the taste buds.

Overall score: 7/10

An award-winning sparkling wine thanks to its refreshing taste of white apple and tropical fruits dancing on the tongue.

Silver Reign Organic Rose English Sparkling

Price:

A refreshingly light drink that would be perfect for a summer evening. There's a tropical aroma with every sip making someone want to be in a warmer climate with every sip they taste.

Overall score: 8/10

Roebuck Estates Reserve 2020, Sussex

Price:

This drink is a classic blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier which gives the drink a rich and complex flavour. There's hints of baked apple, ripe apricot and almond.
