New Delhi: An 18-year-old helper died after a truck rammed into another truck on the Rajokari Flyover in southwest Delhi. According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday. Upon reaching the spot, they discovered two heavily damaged trucks, including the offending vehicle.As per a PTI report, a police officer stated, "Preliminary inquiries revealed that the injured victim had been taken to an unknown hospital. No eyewitnesses were found at the scene." Later, the police received information from Civil Hospital in Gurugram, where Samir was declared brought dead. Police said that he had been working as a truck helper. His body was later sent for a postmortem at Safdarjung Hospital before being handed over to his family.The police officer added, "The truck driver, Imran Khan of Mewat, Haryana, was arrested and confessed to the crash. According to his statement, he had been driving at a high speed and applied sudden brakes on the flyover, which caused a collision with another truck, leading to the fatal injuries of Samir,'' as quoted by PTI. Police revealed that the deceased was the sole earner of his family. A case has been registered against the driver, and further investigation is underway, the PTI report added.In a separate incident, 23-year-old woman died near a BSF camp in south Delhi after the auto-rickshaw she was travelling in overturned on Sunday. According to police, the authorities of a private hospital reported the incident at around 2 am after the woman was declared brought dead there. The probe revealed that the victim, a resident of Sangam Vihar, was travelling to the Safdarjung Hospital in the auto-rickshaw along with her husband and their 21-day-old child.The woman's husband claimed that the auto-rickshaw overturned near the BSF camp close to MB Road after the driver lost control while driving rashly, a PTI report said.
