Chennai: As many as 10 Air India Express flights, scheduled for departure and arrival at the Chennai Airport, were cancelled on Friday. These flights were scheduled for eight domestic and two international destinations, including Delhi and Muscat. The reason behind the cancellation of flights is said to be some administrative issues. Meanwhile, the passengers who were supposed to board the affected flights have shown disappointment with the authorities, saying that they were not informed about the change of plans in advance. Due to which, they were left stranded at the airport for hours. However, the authorities managed to accommodate flyers who were supposed to leave for Muscat from the Chennai Airport. These passengers were made to travel in another flight, leaving at the same time to the destination. Meanwhile, the flight to Singapore was cancelled, and the passengers had to wait for alternative arrangements.

Affected domestic flights includes trio to and from these cities -- Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram and Bhubaneswar. All these flights were cancelled, causing a chaos at the airport. Air India Cancels Multiple Flights Air India has reportedly cancelled several of its flights between India and North America during the busy winter season. The cancellations come at a time when the airline had recently expanded its use of the Airbus A350 on daily routes to New York, alongside its existing A350 service to London Heathrow. The move was intended to free up Air India's fleet of Boeing 777-300ERs, allowing the airline to increase flight frequency and improve service on popular routes. However, the airline now faces a disruption, as four of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft are currently grounded. Two of these planes are undergoing significant maintenance in Turkey, leading to a shortage of available aircraft. The timing of the cancellations is especially unfortunate, as December is a peak travel period for the India-North America sector. Many passengers, including tourists and those visiting family over the Christmas holidays, are likely to be affected. While flight cancellations are not uncommon, they cause significant inconvenience during this high-demand period.
