Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who served as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under Donald Trump from 2017 to 2021, was rumored to be the President-elect's pick for the post of Surgeon General in his upcoming administration. However, Carson put the rumours to rest on Sunday with a post on X where he clarified that he will not be serving as the next Surgeon General of the US. Announcing that he is looking forward to working with Trump "to advance the America First agenda," the 73-year-old said that reports of him as Trump's potential Surgeon General pick are not true. "I am excited to speak with President Trump about how I will continue to advance the America First agenda, and I am meeting with him in the near future," Carson wrote. "However, contrary to reports, I will not be serving as the Surgeon General."
