Bengaluru: The ongoing investigation into the death of a newborn girl in Iggaluru village, southeast Bengaluru, who was found in a water tanker, has encountered an unexpected turn. While the police were looking into the inter-caste marriage of the parents in the case, the mother of the deceased infant has made a shocking revelation. The 20-year-old mother said she had given some medicines to the kid, leading to her death. Fearing that she would be held responsible for killing the kid, she staged the whole act by throwing the baby girl into the water tanker. Archita, the accused mother said that fed some medicines and a syrup to the kid around 11.30 am. She said the kid died on her lap. The infant was was born prematurely in seventh month, and had respiratory issues a fortnight ago before receiving a treatment at a private hospital. The woman got panicked, thinking that family of her husband and other relatives would blame her, so she dumped the body in the tanker on Monday, reported .

What Happened Afterwards?Following that, she raised an alarm that her child was missing when she came out of the washroom in her room. Her grandmother Rukminiyamma immediately called Murali, Archita's father, who was at work in a factory at the time. Meanwhile, the police also reached the spot. They looked into CCTV cameras of other buildings, and concluded that anyone from the family could be the one to kidnap the kid. A while later, Manu, Archita's husband, came to house, and started searching for the kid. Villagers suggested her to check the rooftop. When he went upstairs, he was shocked to see his daughter floating the water tanker. Manu belongs to a Dalit community, while Archita is from an upper caste. In the initial probe, the police suspected that this could be the case of honor killing.
