Delhi University Council Approves New Strategic Plans, Varsity to Work Towards a Sustainable Approach

Delhi University has set its initiatives envisaged under its Institutional Development Plan (IDP) 2047. Accordingly, DU is determined to adopt a sustainable approach with plans to introduce a zero-emission target by restricting fossil fuel vehicles on the campus. Further, the varsity is also planning to introduce a free lunch scheme for the students.Institutional Development Plan (IDP) is a strategic document with plans and goals to be achieved by Delhi University in coming years. The document was approved at the DU academic council meeting held on Thursday. The vice chancellor (VC) has been authorised to further decide on the course for the IDP and its implementation. The university is also planning to launch its own satellite. DU aims to establish a satellite system that could play a major role in scientific research, telecommunications, GPS navigation as well as remote education.As one of the envisions under IDP, DU is also planning to introduce a working lunch scheme for underprivileged students, offering free meals in the university cafeteria in exchange for work. The canteens will follow strict food safety standards and could collaborate with self-help groups for food procurement to support local communities.Additionally, DU would also create a "University Haat", on lines of the universities abroad, to set up a commercial shopping area where products developed by the university's student-led start-ups can be showcased and put up for sale. Odisha OSSC CGL exam for Group B and C recruitment will be held in 3 phases i.e. Preliminary, Mains and Certificate Verification. Candidates will have to clear all three stages to get selected.
