Earthquake Of 4.2 Magnitude Hits Gujarat's Mahesana, Tremors Also Felt In Ahmedabad

hmedabad: Mahesana in Gujarat witnessed earthquake on Friday evening. Tremors were also felt in Ahmedabad. The earthquake, measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale, occurred on November 15, 2024, at 10:15 PM IST. The epicenter was located at a depth of 10 km, with coordinates 23.71°N latitude and 72.30°E longitude. However, no major damage has been reported in any part of Gujarat due to the earthquake.

Residents from several parts of Gujarat have reported that they felt the tremors in their areas. A solo forecast page on X, formerly Twitter, said that Palanpur in Gujarat was also jolted by the earthquake. Apart from these areas, Gandhinagar also witnessed the earthquake

How Intense the Gujarat Earthquake Was? The earthquake was in the intensity from small to moderate, which is likely to generated due to small faults. An official from ISR noted that there is no history of big earthquakes in this region like that of Kutch. "It was a small to moderate earthquake, which basically originated from the Patan area due to its small faults," a senior ISR official told Times of India. "Unlike Kutch faults, these are small faults. There is no history of big earthquakes in this region," added the official. X Stormed Among Confusion and ChaosOne of the users asked if others in Ahmedabad also felt the shock.

In one of the recent posts, a X user said that he felt tremors in Ahmedabad for 10 full seconds.

Meanwhile, reacting to the official announcement by the National Center for Seismology, a user claimed that minimal shock was witnessed at S.G.Highway area Ahmedabad.
