Ishan Kishan was among the key players ignored for a spot in Team India for the T20I series against Bangladesh. With Rishabh Pant rested for the series, Ishan was expected to make his return. But the selectors ignored him and selected Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma. Samson was a confirmed selection in the squad.Jitesh's selection over Ishan was a bit surprising. Ishan was dropped from the BCCI central contract list earlier in 2024. He pulled out of the South Africa tour before the start of the Test series and did not play the last round of the Ranji Trophy despite the BCCI's order.The left-handed batsman made his return for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025. The BCCI selected him for the Duleep Trophy and he is also part of the Rest of India team for the Irani Cup. But as far as India selection goes, Ishan doesn't seem to be in the reckoning till he plays Ranji Trophy for Jharkhand.The red-ball tournament is scheduled to kick off on October 11. Ishan could be named the captain of the Jharkhand cricket team. He could make his return for the South Africa T20I series in November.The India-Bangladesh T20I series will kick off on October 6. The three T20Is will be played in Gwalior, Delhi and Hyderabad on October 6, 9 and 12, respectively. The selectors haven't named a vice-captain for the T20I series.
