IMA Urges Health Ministry to Explore Interim Measures to Conduct NEET PG Counselling

In a letter to Health Minister JP Nadda, the Indian Medical Association has urged for the timely conduct of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET PG counselling 2024. To be noted that there is a delay in counselling as Medical Counselling Committee is yet to release the complete schedule."On behalf of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), we write to bring to your kind attention the growing concerns and uncertainty surrounding the delay in the NEET PG 2024 counselling process, which is currently held up due to an ongoing case in the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India," the IMA wrote in a letter.

Students Are Worried About Their Future: IMAIn the letter, IMA requested Nadda to address the concern of students over growing uncertainity among students about their future due. NEETPG Counselling delay is causing immense distress to thousands of aspirants across the country. IMA also mentioned about the challenges faced by healthcare institutions due to the delay in the induction of PG students. "The delay in the counselling process is causing immense distress to thousands of NEET PG aspirants across the country. These candidates, who have worked tirelessly to qualify for postgraduate medical seats, are facing prolonged uncertainty about their future due to the judicial proceedings. This situation is also impacting the functioning of healthcare institutions, as the timely induction of postgraduate students is crucial to ensure the availability of medical professionals in hospitals and medical colleges," IMA letter further reads. IMA has requested Ministry to engage with the concerned authorities, including Supreme Court and come up with a way to expedite the resolution of the case. The letter added, "If necessary, we urge the government to explore interim measures that could allow the counselling process to commence, ensuring that the interests of both students and the healthcare system are safeguarded." UDFA Seeks Health Minister's InterventionRepresentating the NEET PG candidates, the United Doctors Front Association (UDFA) also submitted a letter to Health Minister JP Nadda.
