The Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa has announced that Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board, KSEAB will no longer offer grace marks to students. In a press conference, he announced that there will be no grace marks for SSLC or class 10 exams from this year. Till this year, SSLC students were given grace marks to put an end to malpractice and improve the results. Over 1.5 Lakh students were given 20% grace marks in Karnataka SSLC exam 2024. Out of 20%, 10% grace marks were introduced during COVID and other 10% was in view of the reforms introduced. With this announcement, even the 10% grace marks introduced during COVID will be scrapped. It was observed that the students are becoming fearless due to this. The Minister said, “There is no fear among students on the reforms we have made and there is no need for grace marks. Copying has stopped because of the reforms we introduced in the exams last year." He further said, “The instances of copying during exams have been curbed due to the reforms we introduced in last year’s exams. Students are now fully aware of the system in place, and there is no fear or confusion among them. Hence, there is no longer a need to grant grace marks.” The Minister further shared that he had a review meeting with CM a few months ago and CM expressed dissatisfaction with the department’s decision of awarding grace marks.
Karnataka SSLC Exam 2025As per past trends, the board exam is expected to be conducted in March-April. KSEAB will release the Karnataka SSLC exam dates in December. Once released, students who are scheduled to appear for the board exams will be able to download the timetable from official website - kseab.karnataka.gov.in.You may also like
