Mumbai: The Mumbai Metro Line 3 encountered its first major technical failure on Saturday, leaving commuters stranded in the tunnel between two stations. The train, travelling from Sahar to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), abruptly stopped in the underground Aarey-BKC corridor around 7:30 pm. Passengers, including young children and senior citizens, were trapped in the dark for over an hour, causing panic among those on board. One commuter, sharing their distress on social media, said, “We are stuck for the last hour between Marol and T1 station. Babies are crying, staff is not responding well, and we have senior citizens with us.”The incident quickly gained attention online, with many passengers expressing frustration over the lack of immediate communication. It wasn't until the following evening, 22 hours later, that the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) issued a statement confirming the brief interruption, as per a HT report. The authorities clarified that the technical issue was identified and resolved swiftly, with the train reaching T1 station within 20 minutes. Commuters were then provided with alternate transport to complete their journey, and regular services resumed shortly after. However, many passengers were upset with the delayed response and the lack of information regarding the nature of the technical glitch. MMRCL, while thanking passengers for their patience, assured them that they were committed to providing a safe and efficient service.
