India are all set to take on New Zealand in a three-match Test Series beginning on October 16. Reports stated that Mohammed Shami would return to the squad after missing close to a year of action due to injury. However, he was not included when the squad was named, after reportedly suffering another knee injury while rehabilitating at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Now, another pacer, who was part of the squad, has suffered fresh injury concerns ahead of the start of the first Test match. Prasidh Krishna did not take the field on Day 3 of the Ranji Trophy match for Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. This led to concerns regarding his fitness, just a few days after he returned to cricket after 8 months in the Duleep Trophy 2024 from a quadriceps injury.

Is Prasidh Krishna Injured? While it is not officially known why he did not take the field during Day 3 of the match, a report in Sportstar states that the 28-year-old fast bowler experienced some discomfort while running during the opening day of the Ranji Trophy match. Notably, the outfield in the Holkar Stadium in Indore was slippery after continuous rainfall, and play on Day 2 was completely washed out.The report also states that Prasidh Krishna is highly rated by the Indian think tank, and will be one of the key contenders to be included in the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Hence, his sitting out might just be a precautionary move.Prasidh Krishna was included as one of the four travelling reserves alongside the main squad for the India vs New Zealand Test Series.
