New Delhi: Pollster Pradeep Gupta on Wednesday said that his firm Axis My India will independently release exit poll results for Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly elections. Voting is underway for Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly election and the exit poll results are likely to begin by 6:30 pm today. The exit polls results will be announced after voting in second phase of Jharkhand, and single phase in Maharashtra will conclude.Gupta shared a post on X, informing that Axis My India will release the exit polls results for Jharkhand and Maharashtra assembly elections. Axis My India ended its long standing association with India Today during the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections held last month. Rather, it had streamed exit polls results on its YouTube channel. Doubled Deployment In Maharashtra, Jharkhand To Eliminate Exit Poll ErrorsGupta said that the firm has doubled its on-ground deployment in Maharashtra and Jharkhand to eliminate any error in its exit poll surveys. He said that the decision was taken after analysing the errors in Lok Sabha and Haryana poll predictions. He said he was the only one who predicted the US poll results correctly but ruled out any expansion to other countries as of now. He, however, said he received queries from Ethiopia, Kenya and the United Kingdom this year. When Axis My India Went Wrong Blaming an error of judgment for his exit polls going off the mark in the recent elections, Pradeep Gupta has said taking Uttar Pradesh lightly in the last three phases of the elections cost it dearly as it shifted its top resources away from the crucial Hindi-heartland state to Odisha that it had got wrong in the earlier polls.Axis My India’s exit poll predicted 361-400 seats for the BJP-led alliance in the Lok Sabha elections, including 67 seats in Uttar Pradesh that sends 80 members to the Lower House of Parliament. But the actual results showed the BJP getting 240 seats and missing the majority mark with Uttar Pradesh proving to be the biggest upset for the party with it winning just 33 seats. The 55-year-old pollster became the centre of a controversy when the opposition alleged that he deliberately predicted a clean sweep for the BJP to manipulate the stock market, which hit a record high after the exit polls were announced and crashed on the day of counting.
