Ratan Tata's Last 'Dream Project' Is Still Under Works

Ratan Tata, the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, died on Wednesday in Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital. He was 86 years old. In a statement, Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran hailed the industrialist's unwavering commitment to excellence, integrity, and innovation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Harsh Goenka and Anand Mahindra were amongst the several leaders who paid tributes to Tata. As India mourns the death of Ratan Tata, let's take a look at the 86-year-old's last 'dream project', which is still under works. The Tata chairman emeritus had started the Small Animal Hospital (SAHM) in Mumbai. The Rs 165 crore project - an ode to his love for animals - is based in Mahalaxmi. It is over 98,000 square feet. Read More: SAHM opened on July 1. It provides 24x7 emergency care for animals, especially strays. However, the project will reportedly have a phase 2 roll-out soon. As of now, the state-of-the-art pet hospital has ICUs and HDUs with life support for critically ill and injured animals. It also provides advanced diagnostic imaging services, surgery units, an in-house pathology lab; separate waiting areas for dogs and cats, and inpatient wards. Read More: The hospital was first announced in 2017. It was initially scheduled to be situated in Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai. However, plans changed and the SAHM was opened in Mahalaxmi. With phase 2, the pet project will be able to deal with specialised surgeries, such as orthopaedics and laparoscopic work, complex medical management, physiotherapy and advanced oncology.The hospital was personal for Ratan Tata, who once skipped a Royal invite for his ailing dog, and SAHM will always be a part of the 86-year-old icon's legacy.
