Former Royal Challengers Bangalore star AB de Villiers has said that it will be quite a story if Rohit Sharma moves from the Mumbai Indians to RCB and there aren't many chances of the massive move happening. Reacting to the rumours of Rohit moving to Bangalore, de Villiers has said that if it at all happens, it will be the biggest headline.Rohit was sacked from captaincy of Mumbai last season and the position was handed to Hardik Pandya. With the IPL 2025 mega auction approaching, there are rumours that Rohit might move to Bangalore before the next season. Rohit, who didn't speak at the time when the decision was made had his audio go viral later during IPL 2024, discussing the developments at the Mumbai Indians."I almost laughed at the Rohit comment. That will be quite a story if Rohit moves from Mumbai Indians to RCB. Wow! Imagine the headlines. It will be bigger than Hardik Pandya's move. He moved from Gujarat Titans back to Mumbai, which although wasn't big a surprise," de Villiers said while speaking on his YouTube channel.

"But if Rohit moves from Mumbai to join his rivals in RCB...oh my god! I don't think there is an option there. I don't see a possibility of MI leaving Rohit. I will give that zero or 0.1 per cent chance," de Villiers said. The former South Africa skipper added that his childhood friend Faf du Plessis might continue playing and leading RCB even though he is at the fag end of his career. "Age is just a number, guys. I don't see why his turning 40 would be an issue. He has been there for a few seasons and the players are used to him. I understand there has been pressure on him because he hasn't won the trophy for RCB, but he has been exceptional as a player," de Villiers said. According to the new retention rules, every franchise can retain a maximum of six players.
