Secret Tomb With 2,000-Year-Old Skeletons Discovered Under Petra's Treasury In Jordan

A secret tomb has been discovered in Petra, Jordan with around 12 human skeletons and other artifacts that probably are 2000 years old. The tomb was found underneath a monument known as the Khaznah or Treasury.

Discovering The TombArchaeologist Dr. Pearce Paul Creasman along with his team carried out the process of ground-penetration with the help of a radar. This is a technique that detects buried objects using radar pulses. The archaeologists performed this activity to see if the left sided physical features matched the right sided ones. To their surprise, the detections unveiled many similarities which provoked them to get permission to dig further from the government of Jordan. Soon after the team braced up for the upcoming adventure, Dr. Creasman called up "Expedition Unknown" segment's host Josh Gates and broke this news to him. Unveiling The TombIn August 2024, the archaeologists' team along with a filming crew found the uncovered tomb. The tomb was equipped with grave essentials and contained some skeletal remains. This comes as a surprise, because most tombs when uncovered are found empty. On the occasion of this historic reveal, Josh Gates said, "This is a hugely rare discovery-in the two centuries that Petra has been investigated by archaeologists, nothing like this has been found before." He further added, "Even in front of one of the most famous buildings in the world-there are still huge discoveries to be made." "The tomb discovered underneath the Treasury gives a detailed insight about the Arabian nomads , Nabataeans who reigned from 4 century BC to AD 106 ," according to Dr. Creasman.
