A social media post, claiming that people in several US states will get a $2000 government stimulus check as the festive season begins, went viral. The rumor has surfaced several times in the past year and has again attracted attention following Donald Trump's win in the 2024 presidential election on November 5. However, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website stated that no new economic stimulus payments were scheduled. The IRS released three rounds of these payments during the Covid 19 pandemic.
