Following this, the kid's family lodged a complaint against the hotel owner at the Civil Lines police station. The cops are further investigating the matter. Such incidents have risen in various states, raising concerns regarding food safety and hygiene. In October, over 40 students were hospitalised after a lizard was found in a midday meal at a school in Maharashtra. Following the incident, locals shared pictures, claiming that a dead lizard was found in utensils used for serving lunch. They alleged it was the possible reason for food poisoning. Municipal commissioner Saurabh Rao stated that a detailed investigation has been launched, and the Food & Drug Administration has collected samples of the allegedly contaminated food. Similarly, in Chennai last month, a family of five, including two children, was admitted to a hospital due to food poisoning reportedly after consuming a parcel of biryani, in which they allegedly found a dead lizard. Soon after consuming the food, they all began vomiting, and the children fainted. A few weeks ago, rats were found in raw food materials and cooking utensils in the mess of IIT Roorkee in Uttarakhand. The students shot the video, purportedly showing rats inside the mess, and claimed that they had seen rodents inside rice sacks, frying pans, and even inside a cooker, which is used for cooking rice for the students.
