Vikramaditya Motwane's latest film, CTRL, featuring Ananya Panday, has recently premiered on Netflix and is already receiving positive responses from audiences and critics alike. This cyber-thriller film takes a fresh approach to storytelling through the screenlife format, a style that immerses viewers in the digital experiences of its characters.

Vikramaditya Motwane on CTRL endingThe film's ending left fans curious whether there's a possibility of a sequel where Nella played by Ananya Panday seeks revenge or not. Recently, Vikramaditya revealed that he and his co-writer Avinash Sampath originally envisioned a different ending for the protagonist, Nella, which leaned toward a vengeful narrative. However, he ultimately decided this direction didn’t align with the overall flow of the story. He recognised that the film's constraints in the screen life format necessitated a more cohesive conclusion that would resonate with audiences. ALSO READ: He told the Hindustan Times, "We realised, why would anyone in that right mind stream this or shoot this, what would be the screenlife element? So very quickly, that went out of the window. It has to be organic to the story."Reacting to sequel queries, he said, “Maybe. I don't know. I don't buy into a sequel. I think in Nella's case, she's doomed. She's gone down that rabbit hole again."A key aspect of CTRL's success is the director's collaborative vision. “I think the best thing I've done is to get Sumukhi Suresh to write the dialogues and Ananya Panday to star in it because they're more in it than I am. It was a very collaborative effort. Knowing that I don't want to be the one in his 40s telling 20-year-olds how to work the internet. I don't know it, so I'm going to get (the right) people," he added. ALSO READ: More about CTRLAnother standout element of CTRL is the character Allen, Nella’s artificial intelligence companion. The director designed Allen to be relatable and accessible, moving away from the high-concept AI portrayals often seen in films like Her and Ex Machina. Instead, Allen is a versatile app that allows users to customise personality traits, from playful comic flirt to serious science geek. The film also features Vihaan Samat, Devika Vatsa, and Aparshakti Khurana in key roles. The film was release on Friday (October 4) on Netflix.
