Visakhapatnam: A 20-year-old law student was allegedly gang-raped by her boyfriend and three of his friends in Visakhapatnam on August 13. The crime was filmed and the accused used the footage to blackmail the young woman for months. Pushed to her breaking point, she attempted suicide on Monday, but her father intervened just in time. Following this, she confided in her family, who supported her in filing a police complaint. The woman and her boyfriend had been in a relationship for over a year, during which he promised to marry her. However, he lured her to a friend’s room where she was assaulted while his friends filmed the crime. Using the videos to threaten her, the group continued to exploit her for months. The relentless harassment drove the woman to attempt suicide on Monday. Her father saved her life and, upon learning of her ordeal, rallied behind her to seek justice. This courageous step led to the filing of a police complaint and the subsequent arrests. Visakhapatnam police confirmed the arrest of all four accused under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including gangrape, voyeurism, and criminal intimidation, along with provisions of the Information Technology Act. The city’s Police Commissioner, Shanka Brata Bagchi, stated, "All four accused (were) arrested and remanded. The victim's boyfriend and his three close friends are the accused."

The party, tagging leaders like Chief Minister Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, said: "A law student was gang-raped by four youths in Visakhapatnam. The atrocity was filmed on a cell phone, and the victim was threatened many times. The victim tried to commit suicide because she could not stop the harassment of the accused. The father saved her.
