Anas Said, a 28-year-old man from Texas, was arrested on Thursday for alleged links to the terror outfit Islamic State (ISIS) and for allegedly plotting a terror act on the soil of the United States. The FBI Special Agent in charge of Houston, Texas, Douglas Williams, announced Said's arrest at a presser saying that Said tried to provide material support to the ISIS.Williams said at the presser that Said had researched on the internet about how attacks can be carried out on military recruiting centers. Said also allegedly offered his home a sanctuary for terrorists for the Middle East-based terror group. He also bragged that he would commit a "9/11-style" attack, Williams added.The Department of Justice said in a release on Thursday that law enforcement in Houston conducted searches of Said's residence, vehicle, and electronic devices. Citing court documents, the DOJ's statement added that analysis of the objects found in possession of Said revealed that he had sympathies for ISIS and carried out propaganda on their behalf. Said was arrested on November 8, and was kept in custody till his detention hearing on Thursday, 2 p.m. ET. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison, the Justice Department added.
