Kamala Harris's ex-communications director Jamal Simmons said that President Joe Biden should resign from his post in his final days in office to make Vice President Harris the 47th US president. "Joe Biden has been a phenomenal president, he's lived up to so many of the promises that he's made. There is one promise left that he can fulfill: Being a transitional figure," Simmons said as a panelist on CNN's "State of the Union." "He could resign the presidency in the next 30 days, make Kamala Harris the president of the United States. He could absolve her from having to oversee the January 6 transition of her own defeat."
Who Is Jamal Simmons?Simmons is a political advisor who previously served as the director of communications for Vice President Kamala Harris, and now hosts a podcast show "TrailBlaze" with Nayyera Haq. Previously he served as a press assistant on Bill Clinton's presidential campaign in 1992. After leaving the Clinton administration, he was employed at Citigroup and United Technologies for a short while. He then got appointed as a deputy director of communications for the Democratic National Committee. After establishing a promising career in politics, he opened his own consulting firm. He has made key appearances on CNN, NPR and CBS News as a political commentator. In his recent appearance on CNN, he argued that President Biden should resign from his position and name Harris as replacement as he is in his final weeks in office.
The statement addressed the most crucial question that has been on everyone's mind throughout the final two months of the Biden-Harris government. The panel included conservative journalist Brad Todd, Obama campaign staffer Ashley Allison, political strategist Scott Jennings and political advisor Simmons. Simons added, "It would dominate the news at a point where Democrats have to learn drama and transparency and doing things in the public we want to see. This is the moment for us to change the perspective of how Democrats operate."Jennings laughed at the response and compared it to a plot from the popular political show "House of Cards."Read More: Simmons said he was unsure of what would happen if he were questioned about his thoughts on the Supreme Court, where many are hoping that Justice Sonia Sotomayor may resign so that Biden can name a replacement. "Well the Supreme Court might happen, I don't know if it will. I think this is something that is in Joe Biden's control. And if he did it, it would fulfil his last promise, it'll give Kamala Harris the chance to be the 47th President of United States of America."The "TrailBlaze" co-host reiterated his message in a social media post after his CNN appearance. On CNN, Jamal Simmons say's that Joe Biden should resign so Kamala Harris can become the first female President. π Talk about DESPERATE!! π pic.twitter.com/HjMCJhd2gR
