Kamrup-M orders checking of school bags

Guwahati: Elementary education department of Kamrup (Metro) district has ordered all govt and private schools across the district to check school bags and students’ pockets for any objectionable items, including arms and weapons. The drill is to be carried out by respective class teachers every day, before commencement of the classes.

The order from the district mission coordinator said that the step had been undertaken after a fatal incident, which saw the death of a student at a nearby district, during school hours. If any student is found to possess any objectionable items, the school authorities have been asked to immediately seize them and inform the parents. Schools also have to send a proper copy of information to the mission coordinator. tnn
