However, the number of students pursuing higher studies fluctuated, peaking at 299 in 2020-21 before dropping to 165 in 2021-22 and rising to 239 in 2022-23.
IIT Kharagpur saw graduates grow from 425 to 580, and placements increased from 338 to 460, with median salaries rising significantly from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 24 lakh. The number of students opting for higher studies remained more stable, ranging between 30 and 41 students each year.
Both institutes showed improvement in placements and median salaries, but IIT Kanpur had a higher proportion of students opting for higher studies, while IIT Kharagpur had a greater focus on placements.
