Amit Shah, Mohan Yadav to be observers for Haryana CM pick

NEW DELHI: Incumbent Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini is set to continue in his post, and his election as BJP 's legislature party representative for the state also seems certain, sources said. This comes as Saini's leadership has been endorsed by PM Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah , who have acknowledged his role in the party's "surprise" win in Haryana polls, they added.

Notably, there has been a clamour for the CM's post by a few BJP functionaries, including Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh, who had publicly said in his polls rallies that he should be made CM.

Meanwhile, BJP on Sunday appointed Shah and Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav as central observers for Haryana BJP legislature party meeting in which a new representative will be elected to take over as the new CM. Shah and Yadav will visit Chandigarh for the meeting either on Oct 15 or the next day. The new CM will be sworn in on Oct 17.

Rao, an Ahir by caste, has refuted media reports of his "rebellion", saying "some channels are running baseless news in which I am being shown as a rebel along with nine MLAs. All this is baseless . I and all my fellow MLAs stand firmly with BJP."

In another key appointment, Union minister Pralhad Joshi and party's national general secretary Tarun Chugh have been designated as observers for election of the representative of the party's legislative group in J&K. This comes as National Conference (JKNC) is set to form govt in J&K with Omar Abdullah as CM.
