Salman Khan woke up to another shocking twist in the ongoing saga of threats against the Bollywood superstar. In a dramatic escalation, the Mumbai Police traffic control room received a WhatsApp message last night allegedly from the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The chilling ultimatum? Salman must either apologize at their temple or cough up a staggering Rs 5 crore to stay alive.
"If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our ( Bishnoi community) temple and apologise or pay Rs 5 crore. If he does not do so, we will kill him; our gang is still active," stated the threatening message," the message claimed, adding a sinister touch by suggesting it came from Lawrence Bishnoi's brother .
The police, taking the threat seriously, have launched a full-scale investigation, with Worli Police Station registering a case and hot on the trail of the phone number behind the message.
"In the case of a threat to Actor Salman Khan, the process of registering the case is underway at Worli Police Station. The number from which the message came is being traced," ANI quoted Mumbai Police as saying.
A Déjà Vu of danger?
This isn't the first time Salman has found himself in the crosshairs of death threats recently. Just last week, another ominous message demanded Rs 2 crore, warning of dire consequences if the actor failed to pay up. The sender didn't mince words, directly threatening Salman's life.
Mumbai's law enforcement, already on high alert, had acted swiftly. The previous message led to the arrest of a man in Jamshedpur, who had brazenly demanded Rs 5 crore under the same notorious name. In a bizarre twist, this man had later apologized, claiming the threat was sent "by mistake."
The incident also follows the recent arrest of Azam Mohammad Mustafa, aged 56, from Bandra, who was apprehended for sending a threatening message to Khan. The Worli police registered a case after receiving an anonymous threat demanding Rs 2 crore, with warnings of endangering the actor's life. The threat was initially received through the traffic police's helpline.
Earlier, authorities had taken a 24-year-old individual into custody regarding a separate threat case.
Shadows of a gruesome backdrop
The threats come amid heightened tensions following the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, a grim reminder of the ruthless nature of gang operations in the city. Siddique's assassination has cast a long shadow over Mumbai, with fears of escalating gang-related violence.
Salman has previously faced numerous death threats from Lawrence Bishnoi gang associates, who fired shots at his Bandra residence in April. Despite increased security measures, the situation intensified when his close associate, Baba Siddique, was fatally shot, allegedly by Bishnoi associates on October 12.
As Salman navigates this unnerving phase, fans and the film fraternity alike watch closely, hoping the Mumbai Police's swift action will put an end to this menacing chapter. Meanwhile, the megastar remains silent, letting the law take its course in this unfolding thriller straight out of a Bollywood script.
