Bengal government clarified doctors mass resignations- infructuous

Bengal government clarified on Saturday that the mass resignations submitted by faculties of different medical colleges as infructuous. Following the RG Kar incident and junior doctors on hunger strike several medical college faculties had submitted mass resignation which included teachers of RG Kar, IPGMER SSKM, North Bengal Medical College and on Saturday 18 teachers resignations were submitted from PC Sen medical college.

Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee 's chief advisor Alapan Bandyopadhyay spelt out in a press meet on Saturday at Nabanna that the matter of resignation cannot be a subject of mass petition.

He said that the mass resignations submitted had no legal value as a resignation is a subject between the employer and employee and so individually all need to resign, as the resignation is controlled by service rules. So he said as various news were making rounds on resignation by teachers, so state government clarified it had no legal validity.

Earlier on Friday chief secretary Manoj Pant had urged the junior doctors to withdraw from their hunger strike and stated about the steps taken to ensure safety in hospitals. He stated Rs 113 crore was used and 7000 plus CCTVs were being installed along with rest rooms in all hospitals.
