'Chun-chun ke nikalenge': Shivraj Singh Chouhan pledges NRC implementation in Jharkhand

NEW DELHI: Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday said that if elected, the BJP will implement the National Register of Citizens ( NRC ) in Jharkhand .

Chouhan said that, "We will implement the NRC (National Register of Citizens) in Jharkhand, create a citizenship register to identify local residents, and selectively remove infiltrators from the state." (Hum Jharkhand mein NRC lagu karenge Nagrikta ka register banaega, jisme Sthaniya nivasi register honge, aur jo ghuspaithiye hai unko chun-chun ke bahar nikala jaega.)

He said that this move is aimed at addressing concerns over the changing demographics of the state, attributed to alleged infiltration from Bangladesh.

Chouhan outlined the BJP's manifesto, called the ' Sankalp Patra ,' and said, "A detailed manifesto, the BJP's 'Sankalp Patra,' is about to be released. This election is not just about choosing a chief minister or a party; it is about saving Jharkhand. 'Roti,' 'Beti,' and 'Mati' are our pledges. The demographics here are rapidly changing due to Bangladeshi infiltrators. In Santhal Pargana, the tribal population, which once stood at 44 percent, has now reduced to 28 percent. Other communities are also being significantly affected by these infiltrators."

Chouhan criticised the current government led by Hemant Soren , alleging that it is aiding infiltrators for vote-bank politics. "Anyone born on Indian soil is considered our own, but when people from another country infiltrate, settle here, and receive protection from the government, it becomes a concern. The current government, led by Hemant Soren and his alliance, is allowing this for vote-bank politics. They are helping these infiltrators obtain Aadhaar cards, register in the voter list, and they pose a grave threat," he stated.

He further highlighted the social impact, claiming that infiltrators are seizing land and marrying tribal women. “They come, seize our land, and not just that—they marry tribal daughters. Many daughters, like Ruvika and Ankita, have been brutally murdered. Many women are deceived into marriages, after which properties are bought in their names, turning these infiltrators into property owners. They are contesting elections and gaining control over local administrations, reducing job opportunities for locals.”

Chouhan reiterated the saffron party's commitment: "Thus, 'Roti' signifies employment, 'Mati' means protecting our land from infiltrators, and 'Beti' refers to safeguarding our daughters—these are our commitments. We will implement the NRC (National Register of Citizens) in Jharkhand, create a citizenship register to identify local residents, and selectively remove infiltrators from the state." (isiliye 'roti' matlab rozgaar, 'maatti' matlab humari dharti par ghuspaithiyon ka kabzaa na ho, aur 'Beti' yeh teeno bachana humara sankalp hai. Hum Jharkhand mein NRC lagu karenge Nagrikta ka register banega, jisme isthaniya nivasi register honge, aur jo ghuspaithiye hai unko chun-chun ke bahar nikala jaega.)
