'Expect much more ... ': Robert Vadra on PM Modi's 'dalaal, damaad' attack

NEW DELHI: Businessman and husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday hit out at Prime Minister Modi for his recent 'dalaal, damaad' remark saying that the people "expect much more from him".

PM Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress in Haryana ahead of assembly elections and took potshots at Robert Vadra claiming the party handed over the state to 'damaad' (son-in-law) and no job in the state was given without 'kharchi-parchi' (bribe).

Reacting to PM Modi's claims, Vadra said, "I'm quite surprised that once again the Prime Minister has used my name. They've had their own government in Haryana as well as in the center. I know that in the last decade, they have had commissions set up, the Dhingra commission was set up to do an inquiry on me and my companies. There were RTIs that came about checking on how much land I have in Haryana. We've had notices of all sorts. Whatever works that we were doing in Haryana were stopped. Whichever companies I dealt with had notices sent."

"They ( BJP ) have done everything in the last decade to try and disrupt any kind of work. Set up commissions to find out how much land I have and nothing was proven. They cannot prove anything because there were no wrong doings with the way my companies have functioned there," Vadra said.

On PM Modi's claim during the rally that Congress had handed over the state top 'damaad', Vadra said, "The way the prime minister, the tone that he used, to say 'dalalo ko' and 'damada ko', is in poor taste. We expect much more from him."

"The people of Haryana are not happy with this government and so he uses it to digress his own wrongdoings...Once again I'm very surprised and disappointed," Vadra added.

On Congress' chances in upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, Vadra asserted that pople will vote for the party because "because the people want a change".

"That change is required because people always act out of their own experience. They gave them two terms they gave them ten years of governance there as well as in the centre as well as the state," Vadra said.
