NEW DELHI: Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday praised the newly released movie Sabarmati Report , saying the film "defies the ecosystem with unparalleled courage and exposes the truth behind the fateful episode to broad daylight".
The movie chronicles the aftermath of the train-burning incident in Gujarat's Godhra in 2002.
"No matter how hard a powerful ecosystem tries, it cannot keep the truth hidden in darkness forever. The film Sabarmati Report defies the ecosystem with unparalleled courage and exposes the truth behind the fateful episode to broad daylight," Amit Shah wrote on X.
Shah's praise for the movie comes a day after PM Modi applauded the film, stating that "fake narrative can persist only for a limited period".
Reacting to a tweet on the Vikrant Massey starrer film, PM Modi said on X, "Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!"
The film, directed by Dheeraj Sarna, delves into the Godhra train burning incident , which led to widespread unrest in Gujarat.
Released on Friday, The Sabarmati Report is inspired by true events and aims to shed light on the controversial episode . Alongside Massey, the film features Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles.
Meanwhile, PM Modi is on a three-nation trip, starting with Nigeria, the first visit by an Indian PM in 17 years. He will then travel to Brazil and conclude in Guyana from November 19 to 21.
