Gandhis fixated on 'tijori', looted India's treasury for years: BJP

NEW DELHI: BJP on Monday criticised Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, accusing him and his family of being fixated on the concept of a "tijori," which they equated with a safe, in contrast to how the PM uses "safe" in his slogan "Ek Hain Toh Safe Hain."

"The press conference conducted by Congress leader and Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi was unbecoming. It's not fitting for Rahul Gandhi and Congress to use a 'tijori' as a prop for drama... 'Chota popat ne kiya hai Congress chopat'... Late Balasaheb Thackeray had once referred to Rahul Gandhi as 'Popat' in an interview," said BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra.

Patra further said, "Those who have been plundering the treasury for years now equate 'tijori' with safety... The Gandhi family has looted India's treasury through numerous scams... The mother (accused no.1) and son (accused no.2) are currently out on bail."

BJP also slammed Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge over his "poisonous snakes should be killed" barb, saying it shows the party's Emergency mindset which likens rivals to snakes and incites violence against them.

Patra asserted that Gandhi and the Congress will get a befitting reply from people on November 23.
