NEW DELHI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday accused Hemant Soren-led Jharkhand government over a police raid at a guest house in Ranchi where Union home minister Amit Shah stayed for a night. Sarma said the raid held "without any concrete reason" showed the growing impatience of the ruling government.
Sarma, who is also BJP co-in-charge for Jharkhand assembly elections , in a post on X said, "Union Home Minister Amit Shah stayed at the Sarala Birla School Guest House in Ranchi on the night of 11 November. Today, Jharkhand Police raided this institution without any concrete reason, which clearly shows the growing impatience of the ruling government."
"I appeal to all government officials to discharge their duties within the ambit of the law. Compliance with the law is paramount; do not succumb to unnecessary pressure and do not compromise your integrity and impartiality to please political masters," Sarma added.
Amit Shah held back-to-back rallies in Jharkhand for the assembly elections.
On Monday (November 11), while speaking at a rally in Seraikela, Shah vowed that if BJP is elected to power in the state, it will bring a law to prevent the transfer of land to infiltrators who marry tribal girls in Jharkhand.
A day later, in another rally in Baghmara, Shah accused the Waqf Board of grabbing land and asserted that it was time to introduce changes in the body and amend the related Act. He also said that no one can stop the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code , which is "needed to check infiltrators", and assured tribals that they would be kept out of its ambit.
The first phase of Jharkhand assembly elections fir 43 seats was held on November 13. The second and the last phase of voting will be held on November 20.
