NEW DELHI: The trends on Tuesday have projected a comfortable majority for Bharatiya Janata Party in Haryana assembly elections . Meanwhile, Congress and National Conference alliance has maintained its lead in Jammu and Kashmir .

The Bharatiya Janata Party is aiming to secure a third consecutive term with Nayab Singh Saini as the chief minister face in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the campaigning, banking on its “double-engine” government.

The Congress party in Haryana, spearheaded by leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Bhupinder Singh Hooda, is striving to make a comeback after a decade-long hiatus. The grand old party's campaign focused on issues such as unemployment, agrarian distress, and law and order.

Congress veteran Bhupinder Singh Hooda leading

Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda exuded confidence of forming a government in Haryana despite the BJP's significant lead in the state. The Election Commission website indicated that Hooda, who previously served as the chief minister, was ahead in his Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency in Rohtak district by a margin of 5,082 votes.


INLD's Abhay Chautala trailing from Ellenabad

Indian National Lok Dal leader Abhay Singh Chautala was trailing from the Ellenabad assembly seat in Haryana, according to Election Commission trends. Chautala was trailing by 4,999 votes from his nearest rival and Congress candidate Bharat Singh Beniwal.

'Mein zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya...' Anil Vij sings as he trails as per trends

BJP candidate from Ambala Cantt, Anil Vij sings," Mein zindagi ka saath nibhata chala gaya, har fikr ko dhuyen mein udata chala gaya...." Vij is trailing by a margin of 1199 votes after 2/16 rounds of counting here, as per the latest EC data.

Wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat leading from Julana constituency

Congress candidate and wrestler Vinesh Phogat took the lead again after trailing during the early trends. According to the Election Commission website, Phogat was trailing behind her BJP rival Yogesh Kumar by a margin of 1,417 votes.

Several political parties had announced their candidates for the Haryana Assembly Elections from the Julana constituency. The prominent parties fielding candidates include Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress, Indian National Lok Dal, and Aam Aadmi Party.

Savitri Jindal leading from Hisar

Savitri Jindal, India's richest woman and an independent candidate, is leading by nearly 4,000 votes from Hisar constituency in Haryana.

According to Election Commission trends, at 11am, Jindal holds a lead of 3,836 votes over Congress and BJP candidates.

Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini is leading from Ladwa

Haryana Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nayab Singh Saini was leading in the Ladwa Assembly constituency as the votes were being counted in the Assembly elections, data from the Election Commission showed.

According to the Election Commission, the BJP is leading in 46 out of 90 seats, while the Congress is leading in 37 seats in Haryana.

BJP's Darshan Kumar wins from Basholi in Jammu's Kathua district

BJP candidate from Basholi, Darshan Singh says, "I thank the people of Basholi as I have a lead of 12,000 votes. They want change, and are ready to go with BJP and PM Modi."

Omar Abdullah wins from Budgam

National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah won the Budgam constituency with a margin of over 18,000 votes. As vote counting continues in Jammu and Kashmir, Abdullah is leading in Ganderbal constituency.

"There should be complete transparency. The people's mandate must not be tampered with. If the mandate goes against the BJP, they should not resort to any 'jugaad' or other tactics. The Raj Bhavan and the Centre should accept the people's decision, just as we did in the Parliamentary elections," Abdullah told PTI.

JK Cong chief Tariq Karra leads in Central Shalteng segment

Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Karra on Tuesday secured an unassailable lead over National Conference rebel Irfan Shah in Central Shalteng assembly segment, according to the Election Commission website. At the end of the 13th round of counting, Karra had secured 18,892 votes as against Shah's 4,523 votes, a lead of 14,369 votes.

The NC and the Congress had entered into a pre-poll alliance in Jammu and Kashmir and there was a friendly contest between the two in five seats. Some leaders from the two parties, including Shah, had rebelled against their decision to join hands and contested the polls as Independents.

Meanwhile, J&K people conference chief and former minister Sajad Gani Lone is leading from Handwara with a margin of 916 votes. Lone, however, is trailing with over 6000 votes from Kupwara.

BJP chief Ravinder Raina is trailing from Nowshera constituency from Jammu region in the early trends.

According to the Election Commission, the alliance between Congress and the National Conference has crossed the halfway mark and is projected to form the government with a comfortable majority in the early trends.

What exit polls predicted in Haryana?

Exit polls predicted that the Congress will be sweeping back into power in Haryana after a gap of 10 years. The party will be winning around 55 seats, the BJP 27 seats, INLD 2 seats, JJP 1 seat and others around 5 seats. As per pollster Matrize, Congress is expected to win 55-62 seats, BJP 18-24, INLD 3-6, JJP 0-3 and others 2-5 seats. Peoples Pulse has predicted that the Congress will secure around 49-61 seats, BJP 20-32, INLD 2-3, JJP 0-1 and others 3-5 seats.

What exit polls predicted in Jammu and Kashmir?

Exit polls for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly election predicted that the Congress-National Conference alliance may win around 43 seats, 3 short of the majority, while the BJP may win 27 seats, PDP 7 and others 13.
