NEW DELHI: The campaign for the first phase of assembly polls in Jharkhand ended on Monday, which will take place over two phases on November 13 and 20. In the first phase, 43 constituencies will be contested on November 13. A total of 15,344 booths have been set up for voting. The results will be declared on November 23.

Among these seats, six are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 20 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), while 17 are general seats. A total of 683 candidates, including former Chief Minister Champai Soren and six cabinet ministers from the current Hemant Soren government, will be contesting in this phase.
In the 2019 assembly elections, the contest was close, with the JMM winning 30 seats and the BJP securing 25, down from 37 in 2014. The JMM-Congress-RJD alliance won a comfortable majority with 47 seats.
