NEW DELHI: Calling Modinomics a "curse" to India's economy, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge Sunday said PM Modi 's "stale lectures with old spins" cannot hide his "outright failures" that have landed all aspects of the economy in crisis.
Kharge said household liabilities/indebtedness has grown by 241% from 2013-14 to 2022-23 in actual terms, household debt as a percentage of GDP is at an all-time high of 40%, and household savings are at a 50-year low, with consumption of Indian families overtaking their incomes after the pandemic.
"The cost of home-cooked veg thali increased by 11% in Sept 2024 compared to last year. The BJP-imposed price rise and destruction of the unorganised sector is responsible for this mess," he said.
