KOCHI: Actor Nivin Pauly was given a clean chit by the special investigating team (SIT) probing a rape case registered by Oonnukal police . Pauly was also removed from the list of accused in the case. The actor later made a social media post expressing his gratitude to those who supported him during the probe.
"Since there was no evidence against Nivin Pauly, we have removed him from the accused list in the case registered at Oonnukal police station," said a senior police official who is part of the SIT.
The officer confirmed that a detailed report was submitted by Oonnukal police regarding the case to the judicial first-class magistrate court at Kothamangalam. Meanwhile, the investigation against other accused in the case will continue.
The FIR named Pauly, a film producer and four others, including a woman, invoking gang rape and other charges following a complaint lodged by a woman who alleged that she was sexually abused in Dubai multiple times between Nov 1 and Dec 15 last year.
Pauly later said on social media, "Heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood by me. Thanks for all the love, prayers and support." TNN
