Owaisi thinks Omar Abdullah will be the weakest CM, here's why

Send Push
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday claimed that Omar Abdullah , after winning the Jammu and Kashmir assembly election, will be the weakest chief minister ever in the history of India.

He asked that after the Lieutenant Governor nominates the five members to the Legislative Assembly, which currently consists of 90 elected members, then what will be the role of the CM there?

Expressing his disapproval of the bill of the abolition of Article 370 , Owaisi said, "My party has opposed the bill of the abolition of Article 370. The bill has a provision that the LG will appoint 5 MLAs which I find constitutionally wrong. If the sitting CM cannot appoint an MLA and the sitting LG, appointed by the PM can do so, then what is the role of the CM?... Omar Abdullah will be the weakest CM ever in Indian history."

He further stated that the people of Kashmir have shown their anger against the abolition of Article 370 and have given a very decisive verdict.

"BJP wanted to divide the Pahadis and the Gujjar, which did not happen. BJP has won 27 seats in Jammu and Congress has won only 1, that is the main concern ..." he added.

In the recently concluded election, the NC-Congress alliance won 49 seats while the BJP won only 29 seats.

Earlier today, while interacting with journalists, Omar said that the restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir is the only promise left to be fulfilled by the Centre and drew comparisons with Delhi's similar demand.

"There is a difference between Delhi and us. Delhi was never a full state, and nobody ever promised to make it a state. J&K was a state before 2019, and restoration of statehood has been promised to us. The PM, home minister, and senior ministers of the BJP have promised this and said again and again that three steps will be taken in J&K - delimitation, election, and then statehood."

"Delimitation and elections are done; now statehood remains. After the formation of the government here, I hope the first decision of the cabinet will be to pass a resolution to grant statehood, and the resolution will be presented to the PM," Omar added.
