Sister and brother command warships for the first time in Indian Navy

A sister-brother duo, for the first time in the Indian Navy , are simultaneously commanding different warships under the Western Command. Commander Prerna Deosthalee last year achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first woman officer to receive command of a naval warship and currently leads the fast attack craft INS Trinkat .

Meanwhile Her brother, Commander Ishan Deosthalee , has received the command of INS Vibhuti , a Veer-class missile vessel in the Indian Navy.

INS Vibhuti participated in the steam past ceremony presented to President Draupadi Murmu along the Goan coastline in the Arabian Sea.

On November 7, President Droupadi Murmu visited INS Vikrant accompanied by Chief of Navy Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and observed an operational demonstration by the Indian Navy.

During her speech, President Murmu commended the Indian Navy's operational capabilities and strategic influence.

"The Indian Navy units are deployed across vast areas for extended durations, showcasing their capabilities and strategic influence. Your positive, proactive, and swift actions have saved countless lives at sea. It was a special moment for me when the President of Bulgaria called to express gratitude for rescuing the Bulgarian crew from a hijacked vessel earlier this year," said Murmu.
