NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a batch of petitions seeking a court-monitored investigation into allegations that animal fat was used to make laddus, which are served as prasadam at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, where Lord Venkateswara is worshipped. The hearing was set for October 4 at 10.30 am after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought adjournment.
On September 30, while hearing Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's claim that animal fat was allegedly used in the preparation of Tirupati laddus during the previous administration, the Supreme Court remarked that religious matters, especially involving Gods, should not be kept away from politics.
