Trump’s victory continues Tennessee's history of voting Republican in presidential elections. Tennessee last voted for a Democrat in 1996, when Bill Clinton was reelected. In 2000, Tennessee voters chose George W. Bush over Tennessee native Al Gore, who was Clinton's vice president.
Trump also won Tennessee in the 2016 and 2020 presidential elections. In 2016, he won by 26 percentage points, and he won by about 23 percentage points in 2020.
Tennessee's two Republican US senators, Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty, won their first elections with endorsements from Trump.
