Explosion at Scottish flats leaves one dead, three injured in Alloa

An explosion in Alloa , Scotland, left one person dead and three others injured after it ripped through a block of flats on Kellie Place . Emergency crews responded to the incident around 6 pm (local time) on Sunday, following reports of an explosion and fire.

One resident inside the property was pronounced dead at the scene, but their identity has not yet been confirmed. Three others from the same block sustained minor injuries and were transported to Forth Valley Royal Infirmary for treatment, according to The Guardian.

As per The Guardian, the three who were injured belonged to the same block, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Forth Valley Royal Infirmary.

Sergeant Neill Drummond said: “We are still working to establish the full circumstances of what happened at this property, however, we can confirm that one male has passed away.” He informed that inquiries are underway to confirm his identity and provide his next of kin with all the necessary support they may require are ongoing.

“We are grateful to the local community for their continued cooperation and support of our investigation, and we’ll provide more information in due course.”

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews responded to several reports of an explosion and house fire on Kellie Place, promptly deploying multiple resources to the scene, including specialist urban search and rescue team, a heavy rescue unit, one height appliance and four fire engines.

Emergency crews left Kellie Place at approximately 10:15 PM, according to a fire service spokesman.After the explosion, police and emergency services closed roads to make space for their teams.

Scotland Police said that road closures along the A907, B9096, Kellie Place and Tullibody Road were being lifted as the “major incident” stood down just before midnight.

Alloa Town Hall was used as a respite center for residents of the other flats while gas and electrical work was going on. Police also stated that if residents were unable to return home, they would be provided with alternative accommodation for the night.
