Two parents were arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly attacking their 17-year-old daughter outside Timberline High School in Lacey, Washington on October 18th, New York Post reported.

Police say the attack was motivated by the daughter's refusal to enter into an arranged marriage , according to Ney York Post.

Ihsan Ali and Zahraa Ali arrived at the high school and confronted their daughter, who had previously sought help from school staff. According to charging documents, Ihsan Ali choked his daughter, causing her to lose consciousness. Witnesses, including the girl's boyfriend, attempted to intervene.

“It’s not right … you are not supposed to do this,” the father reportedly told his daughter during the attack.

Video footage of the incident shows Ihsan Ali pinning his daughter to the ground while bystanders plead for him to stop. Police also allege that Zahraa Ali participated in the attack by grabbing and choking her daughter.

The victim's boyfriend's father, Victor Barnes, told KOMO news that there had been ongoing issues with the Ali family, including a prior physical altercation that resulted in a temporary protection order.

The 17-year-old girl and her boyfriend managed to escape to the school's main office, where staff called 911. The school was placed on lockdown to prevent the parents from re-entering the building.

The parents were arrested and charged with attempted murder. The investigation is ongoing.
