Former president Donald Trump Tuesday posted about "massive cheating in Philadelphia " as the election is going on. Taking on Truth Social, Trump -- after he cast his vote in Florida -- wrote, "A lot of talk about massive CHEATINg in Philadelphia. Law Enforcement coming !!!"
The Philadelphia Police department told CNN that they were not aware of what Donald Trump referred to in his post and they did not know of any issue regarding the voting that required a law enforcement response.
Trump has for years made baseless claims about election cheating in Philadelphia. He repeated such claims earlier this fall, saying at a Pennsylvania event in September, with no specifics, that “they cheat in this state, especially in Philadelphia.”
"There is absolutely no truth to this allegation. It is yet another example of disinformation. Voting in Philadelphia has been safe and secure," Philadelphia City Commissioner Seth Bluestein posted on X.
Philadelphia was in the news earlier the day as actor Paul Rudd made a surprise appearance at a Temple University polling place handing out water bottles.
Cambria County in Pennsylvania has been given two extra hours to vote after there were widespread problems with voting machines that delayed the process. Problems were also reported with tabulation machines in Bedford County. “The Cambria County Board of Election learned early this morning that a software malfunction in the County’s Electronic Voting System has prevented voters from scanning their ballots,” Cambria County Solicitor Ron Repak said in a statement.
“This should not discourage voters from voting at their voting precincts. The Board has filed a Court Order extending the time to vote within Cambria County.” Cambria County, which is about 65 miles east of Pittsburgh, has a population of 131,000; Bedford, next door, has about 47,000 residents.
