'Trump train' drives through luxe California area, mocks celebs like Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle

Send Push
A cavalcade of US President-elect Donald Trump supporters drove through an affluent California neighbourhood, home to prominent liberal celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Meghan Markle , on Saturday.

Social media posts on X documented the convoy of vehicles and motorcycles, adorned with flags and signs, making their way along Coast Village Road in Montecito whilst loudly expressing their support for Trump.

The unexpected demonstration likely disturbed the area's wealthy residents, including numerous high-profile Democratic Party donors, in this exclusive Santa Barbara community.

The area serves as home to notable personalities including Winfrey, Markle and Prince Harry , alongside other celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Ariana Grande, Rob Lowe, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.

This exclusive community, situated between the Pacific Ocean and Santa Ynez Mountains, provides ideal conditions and privacy for affluent celebrities.

Harry, 40, and Markle, 43, acquired their $14 million Montecito residence in 2020, establishing themselves 95 miles north of Los Angeles following their departure from royal duties.

Winfrey, 70, possesses a 70-acre estate consisting of three Montecito properties collectively known as "The Promised Land," valued at $90 million.

The billionaire media mogul faced criticism during this campaign period regarding a $1 million fee for interviewing Vice President Kamala Harris, whom she endorsed for the 2024 presidential election .

Despite Winfrey's assertion that she "was not paid a dime," her company, Harpo, received payment from the campaign.

The Harris campaign explained the payment was legally required to cover operational expenses, including staff travel costs, though the substantial amount prompted widespread scrutiny.

Prince Harry and Markle maintained political neutrality this election season, encouraging voter participation without endorsing specific candidates, describing 2024 as "the most important election of our lifetime."

This approach contrasts with their 2020 stance, when they encouraged voters to "reject hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity," widely interpreted as supporting Biden.

Their current restraint might relate to Trump's suggestion about Harry's possible deportation over potential visa application discrepancies regarding past drug use.

The Montecito demonstration was one of numerous "Trump Train" events occurring nationwide in support of The Donald.
